KAN 2007 Finals

The final of the Festival took place on 19–22 April 2007 in Wroclaw. The 8th edition was, like in previous ones, divided into two parts: the proper one (combining cinema and arts) and a accompanying part (combining music and entertainment). The cinema part took place in two screens of Warszawa Cinema, the concert part in the "Szepty" pub, which was the official club of the KAN Festival.

Movies
As a part of KAN 2007, for the first time two competitions were held: The Foreign Films Competition and The National Films Competition. 350 and 250 movies respectively were admitted to the competitions. Two qualifying comities selected 38 amateur and independent pictures for each competition. During four Special Screenings (German, Exotic, European Cinema and The Ad Most Interesting Movies) out of competition movies were presented.

Workshops
During two days of the Final (Friday, Saturday), thanks to KAN’s cooperation with the Internet portal swiatobrazu.pl, participants of the event took part In workshops concerning Digital creation of image. The workshops had a both practical and theoretical character. Professionals invited by swiatobrazu.pl presented the latest technologies and products available on the digital market, and also answered all questions of the gathered audience of the workshops. All interested both participants of the KAN festival and authors of qualified movies could Take part in the workshops. Admission was free.

Awards
In 2007 we returned to the formula of awarding a prize in two categories: feature and documentary. The respectable Jury gave the following awards:

For the third time a special award was presented by the Embassy of The Republic of France (a trip to the "Cinema sous les arbres a Colmar" festival between 11 and 20 July 2007). Nominated for the award were all authors qualified to the final, born between 1982 and 1989. The representatives of the embassy chose to award the movie:
"Smarkacze", directed by Cyprian Demianiuk (Defekt Masy)

KANewka for the Best Foreign Movie went to Norway:
"Isola", Andreas J. Riiser
