Historia-Kan2001 II Festival of Amateur and Independent Cinema KAN 2001
23-26 April 2001
Second edition of KAN took place on 23-26 April 2001. Festival was held in cinema of Filantropijna Agencja Kultury (Philanthropical Agency of Culture) in XXII secondary school in Wroc3aw. The festival began by emission of a film "Oko Boga" (Eye of God) by Piotr Krzywiec, which can be considered as an amateur "superproduction". Earlier this film had also had good reviews on a Festival of Feature Films in Gdynia. Second film was "Kallafiorr" by Jacek Borcuch.
During the second edition of KAN the main point of program was the competition. We presented some "short subject" films. Six films became an award - we distributed Golden, Silver and Brown KANewka.

- Brown KANewka - "Franz", (director: Paweł Mo¶cicki, Kacper Czubak), movie inspired by last days of life of Franz Kafka, who asked his friend to destroy his works.

- Grzegorz KondeK (organizer)
Like every year we served some meals. This time it was "Chinese rice" prepared by one of the Wroclaw restaurants - "Swiat Chin".
Second edition of Festival finished with a Movie Event in Palacyk. It was a superb opportunity for young creators to discuss with other people and representatives of mass-media about their interests.
The interest in this edition of KAN outgrew the expectations of the organizers but confirmed that culture events are very popular among students, pupils and others. The Festival was visited by over 1500 persons.
Information about the festival appeared in newspapers, radio and Internet. There was also one program about KAN - Amator on a local television. Amator is a popular interesting program about amateur films.
