KAN Amateur and Independent Film Festival - general info
The Amateur and Independent Film Festival is a festival that never ceases to be. The finals, a few days long feast for the eyes, ears, and the celluloid-hungry brains, are only the tip of the iceberg. Round the year, KAN is traveling around Poland, Europe, and other far away lands with Special Screenings, visiting fellow festivals with a selection of the best films that have appeared at KAN so far. And we always appreciate the opportunity to work with like-minded film lovers. But the finals are the heart of the KAN. Every year we gather fans, authors, and experts on film art in the Festival's venue, and watch them live through those five days immersed in the magic of film, making new acquaintances, beginning collaborations. KAN's main goal is to promote independent film art and independent film artists - people, who in a couple of years will be the pillars of the contemporary Polish and world cinematography. We show films in two main competitions, Foreign Film Competition and Polish Film Competition. Each year, a total of around 200 films are screened – both in competitions and in special screenings organized together with fellow festivals.
